Janice D. Scharf BSc. RDMS, CRGS, DMS, FSC  Principal, Onsite Ultrasound

Janice began her career as a Radiological Technologist. Intrigued with Ultrasound spurred her to become a Sonographer by attending Mohawk College, Hamilton.  She also completed her Bachelor of Science from Queens University.   Janice has had a varied career in sonography, first doing locums in Moose Factory, then as staff sonographer at Kingston General Hospital.  With her family she moved to Pennsylvania where Janice was a general sonographer, a high risk perinatal sonographer then Department Manager and Director of the Vascular Lab. She started an Ultrasound Accreditation & Consulting company which included being contracted as an ultrasound clinical educator with the University of Pennsylvania Emergency Medical Program. She is also the OB-GYN faculty member for Pegasus Lectures. 

Upon her return to Canada, Janice became an Clinical Applications Sales Specialist with SonoSite, Inc and then moved onto Philips Healthcare.

Janice has published 2 ultrasound texts with Lippincott Press and another 2 with Pegasus Lectures.  Janice has had several roles with Sonography Canada: Chairperson for CARDUP,  first co-chair of Sonography Canada and Editor in Chief of the Canadian Journal of Medical Sonography.  She has the honour of being a Fellow of Sonography Canada.

M. Robert DeJong, Jr. RDMS, RDCS, RVT, FAIUM, FSDMS

Bob is the owner of Bob DeJong, LLC Ultrasound Educational Services
in Rosedale, Maryland. In addition to his current service on the SDMS
& SDMS Foundation Board of Directors, he also served on the SDMS
Conference Management Committee for many years and was awarded
the SDMS Joan P. Baker Pioneer Award in 1996 and was made an SDMS
Fellow in 2009. Bob has published two textbooks, Craig’s Essentials of Sonography and Patient Care and
Sonography Scanning Principles and Protocols, and authored chapters in other ultrasound textbooks.

Gail P. Size, BS, RPhS, RVS, RVT, FSVU

Gail Size has over 35 years of technical and managerial experience in both clinical and private vascular laboratories. She is the founder and president of Inside Ultrasound, Inc., a provider of Basic Training in Noninvasive Vascular Testing and Vascular Interpretation for Physicians as well as vascular lab accreditation. Gail was an ICAVL vascular reviewer for 3 years. She brings a lifetime of clinical pearls to each vascular lab she works with on IAC and ACR accreditation. She has served on the SVU Board of Directors, as the Co-Chair and Chair of SVU’s Education Committee, as a Regional Chapter Advisor for both the Midwest and Southwest, and as President of the Chicago Area Vascular Association. In 1998 Gail was honored with the SVU Distinguished Service Award, in 2003 she was elevated to SVU Fellow, and in 2014 she received the Society’s Professional Achievement Award.

Kevin Roth DO

Kevin is an emergency medicine specialist in Allentown, PA and has over 25 years of experience in the medical field. He graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996.  Prior to that Kevin began his career and subsequent passion as a Paramedic.  He is affiliated with Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, PA.

Under Kevin’s leadership ER-POCUS was introduced formally into the Lehigh Valley Hospital network, first by creating didactic and clinical programs for his colleagues in the Emergency, and then rolling out to the ER residents. 

Dr. Roth is recognized for his extraordinary dedication and commitment to emergency medicine, his emergency department, quality patient care, and the community he serves. As such Kevin won Physician of the Year, from the Pennsylvania College of Emergency Physicians  this year! 

Carol Anderson RDMS, RDCS

Carol has been a general sonographer for over 35 years.  Carol has worked mainly in Ontario, but has also worked in Bermuda.  Here vast experience in abdominal, obstetrics and gynecolocy and breast ultrasound makes her an exception go to sonographer for those who want to expand their practical knowledge and tricks of the trade. 

 

Julie McGowan BSc. MSc. BSN

Julie has been an Emergency room nurse for over 10 years. Julie has an extensive experience initiating peripheral intravenous (IV) access in high-pressure, fast-paced environments. She routinely assess veins and select the most appropriate site and catheter gauge based on patient condition, age, and treatment needs. This includes starting IVs in patients with difficult venous access due to dehydration, obesity, IV drug use, or chronic illnesses. Julie and her sister Jessica and colleague Sondra participate yearly in the Ride for The Cure fundraiser for Princess Margaret Cancer Research.
